On the 27th of September, we left Dali to go to Lijiang, a 2 hour ride by train. We arrived at night time and we just had the chance to start trying the Naxi's food culture.
After a long night of sleep : alarm at 8am ;) we have decided to see the Black Dragon Pool site. The park contains many temples, pavilions showcasing a beautiful ancient architecture, including bridges which led us into the stunning pavilions. It’s an incredibly peaceful place and well worth allowing some time to relax, wander and enjoy.
Then, in the afternoon we went to the old town of Lijiang, a huge place to enjoy Chinese architecture and design. The city is a real maze and we've been a bit lost quite a few times...
If you want to enjoy a quieter old town, you should go to Shuhe, a smaller old town and less known by tourists. Shuhe is also composed of several rivers and canals. Therefore, we enjoyed seeing kids taking their baths, women washing dishes, clothes or using the water for gardening and food cultures. It was a great approach of the local's way of life.
